Two more teens face charges in Fremont shooting
Authorities have charged two more teen boys in connection with the Sunday shooting death of a 14 year-old boy from Fremont.
Two 14 year-olds face an ‘obstructing official business’ charge.
The shooting suspect has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and also burglary after reportedly admitting to police that he stole the gun used in the shooting from another home.
According to police, 14 year-old Jaylen Brock was shot and killed by another 14 year-old boy in the 300 block of Jackson Street late Sunday afternoon.
Heroin dealers now in jail
Two local heroin dealers now face jail time.
41 year-old Shawn Thomas of Norwalk has been sentenced to 17 months in prison and 34 year-old Michael Barnett Junior of Willard is going to jail for 27 months; both for heroin trafficking.
Huron County sales tax collection show another record-high
Sales tax collection in Huron County was an all-time high in June; according to new figures from Auditor Roland Tkach.
Over $999,000 was collected; an increase of $144,000 from June of 2016.
Tkach believes the increase is partly due to sales from the county’s pipeline work.
Report: Mental health and drugs a big issue in Huron County
The results are in from a community health assessment in Huron County…
The data from nearly 1,400 adults, youth and children show that 55 percent of people believe their general health is excellent or very good; up slightly from last year.
Although, people rating their mental health as “not good” has increased dramatically by 10 percent from a year ago.
A survey by Huron County Public Health also showed that drug problems are the overwhelming worst quality of the county at 58 percent.
Kalahari to host auditions for ‘Family Feud’
Auditions for the hit game show, Family Feud, will take place next month at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.
The auditions are planned for October 28th and 29th.

Woolybear Festival and Oktoberfest is this weekend
The weather should be outstanding for a couple of local festivals this weekend.
North Coast Oktoberfest runs today through Sunday in downtown Sandusky
The event features German food, beer and games for all ages.
The 45th annual Woollybear Festival in Vermilion, the state’s largest one-day festival, happens on Sunday with a parade planned at 1:30 pm.
Fox 8 TV legend Dick Goddard will serve as the parade’s grand marshal.
