Deal reached between North Fairfield and pipeline company

An agreement has been reached between North Fairfield and Kinder Morgan, the company bringing the Utopia Pipeline through the village.

The deal includes a $50,000 donation to the village; which will partly be used to improve the village park.

The pipeline running throughout Ohio will be carrying natural gas to Canada and will be going through the western part of North Fairfield.

 

Oak Harbor man pleads ‘no contest’ in dog shooting incident

An Oak Harbor man who allegedly killed a family’s pet entered a “no contest” plea Wednesday.

63-year-old Paul McKee accepted a deal involving an amended disorderly conduct charge in Ottawa County Municipal Court; one day before his trial.

McKee is accused of shooting a black Labrador retriever, the family pet of Leslie Daniel of Carroll Township, after he reportedly felt threatened when the dog came upon his property after running away from home.

 

Man says he was robbed at gunpoint in Sandusky 

Authorities are investigating an alleged gunpoint robbery on West Market Street in Sandusky on Tuesday night.

The victim says two men stole his paycheck and iPhone after the men reportedly demanded his belongings while pulling out a gun and knife.

 

Business closing in Norwalk

A resale business in Norwalk has announced it will be closing.

‘Two Peas in a Pod’, once known as ‘Treasure Loft’, said their business has been affected by the marketplace section of Facebook; which sells many of the same items they do, including knick-knacks and clothing.

The store will remain open on Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm until their building spots are sold.

The business has been at their 9 and 11 West Main Street location for close to 10 years.

 

Erie County Fair – Day 3

Today marks the third day of the Erie County Fair in Sandusky.

Tonight’s featured entertainment in the grand stand will be a Farm Tractor Pull and National Tractor Pulling legends event at 7:00 pm.

This year’s fair king and queen are the brother and sister combination of Tyler and Melanie Sayler.

 

Sign-ups have begun for Nehemiah Center after-school program

Families can start signing their children up for the Nehemiah Center’after-school program, “Club 180/Xtreme”.

The program in Sandusky runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 6:30 pm and includes a hot meal, homework assistance and a Christ-centered curriculum.

It begins September 11th with registrations being taken through the end of this month.
