Nearly 300 jobs will be lost, when Janesville Acoustics closes its plant in Norwalk.
Company officials confirmed the closure yesterday. Layoffs could begin in several weeks. Final closure is expected by the end of 2014. Janesville officials said the company will open a new plant in Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska, closer to existing customers.
A Lancaster, Ohio man jailed for robbing a Willard grocery store is now facing charges in southern Ohio.
Michael Fette is accused of committing armed robberies in Athens and Logan counties, and law enforcement officers believe he may have been involved in other hold-ups. Both counties have issued arrest warrants. Fette remains in the Huron County Jail, for aggravated robbery. He was arrested August 18th, after holding up Missler’s IGA. He was caught moments after the robbery.
It appears a new law that essentially bans internet sweepstakes cafés could be put on hold.
Opponents of House Bill 7 say they’ve collected more than 400,000 signatures on petitions, more than enough to put the issue to a vote in November of next year. If enough of the signatures are valid, internet sweepstakes cafés will remain open until voters decide the issue. A law passed earlier this year limits prizes to $10.
Four teens are facing charges, in connection with a bomb scare at last month’s Cold Creek Festival.
Two Castalia boys, and two Sandusky boys must appear in Erie County Juvenile Court. They’re accused of leaving 2-liter bottles with foil and household chemicals near a downtown building. The scare shut down Depot Street, while a bomb squad and state agents were called in to investigate and disarm the devices.
The Tall Ships recreating the Battle of Lake Erie are sailing into area ports today.
Those ships are scheduled to arrive at Put-In-Bay, Kelleys Island, Middle Bass Island and Catawba Island.
